Holiday toys and some painting and relation time

I've been so busy these past few weeks with holiday shopping and parties that I haven't had much time to relax and paint. Still, I have got some work done on some Apollo Strike Walkers, some more Odins (4 total now though one still has to have his legs put together) and some work on another dropship and some Ares.

I decided, since it was sunny at 55 degrees in Boston to today (!) to do some interactive shots (inspired by some of the work of Klarg1 and Ian's updates on Shaltari and Resistance) before heading out for a concert tonight.

I have some final detailing on these (targeting lights, and some copper/bronze edging on a few things) but otherwise I'm pretty happy with the overall effect and colouring.

I call these two: "The purging of District 9"

The Command group stands ready with additional Odin support:

My latest work on the Apollo Strike Walker. Their speed and flexibility allow them to rapidly redeploy and harass enemy artillery and land transports. They are quickly becoming a standard in any list I build because of the general lack of mobility of the PHR. Those and the deadly swarms of stinging missiles from the Helios for a core of fast units that can scout ahead of the wall of durasteel and ceramic armour.

Not much else to show off this week but now that the holidays are calming down I hope to get some good painting time in.

I'm looking forward to the new releases for the special character models for Hawk and especially looking forward to some new reinforcement from the "dream box set" from Spartan Games for the Directorate and Aquan starter. The thought of a new Directorate Battleship and gunships along with an Aquan heavy carrier has me excited to getting some painting time back into the space department as well.

As always, comments, encouragements and criticisms are always welcome.  I enjoy setting up more dynamic pictures rather than just the standard 'figure on a white background' so if people have suggestions on how to make these more interesting and/or dynamic I'm welcome to hear them.

Until next time - keep rolling sixes...
